Design 

When I mentioned Huawei Nova 5T is a re-brand of Huawei Honor 20 what I mean was what I will describe here. Firstly, its build is glass on the back and front panels with an aluminum frame around its edges. This gives Nova 5T a premium look and feels as you would expect. Glass is usually reserved for high-end (which Nova 5T is) and flagship smartphones – which we also feel this phone is. The other striking feature about its design is the pattern on the back panel which has ‘NOVA’ writings as a sort of wallpaper within the glass. It really makes this phone attractive. I say these are those kinds of phones that beg you to pick them up. 

Facing you is its 6.26 inches display panel which we shall talk about later in this review. Why we make mention of it is because it has that hole punch notch which is now fast becoming popular. Gone are the days when we would debate on whether or whether not we love or hate this hole punch. We find that the same has been well implemented on this phone. It is in there that the selfie camera is. Also do not wonder whether this Nova 5T has a fingerprint scanner or not. It has been mounted on the power button and it is quite fast and accurate when unlocking. Face unlock is also a feature here. 

Huawei Nova 5T Display 

Everyone has a preference when it comes to the display of a phone. I grant you, all love brilliant displays. Some love big displays while other compact and manageable panels. The good thing about Huawei Nova 5T is that it has a display panel that meets the criteria of many. First, its size is 6.26 inches on a 96.2 cm2 surface area and the panel itself is an IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen. Other details like its 1080 x 2340 pixels resolution, 19.5:9 ratio, and ~412 PPI density follow. Despite being an IPS panel it is among our best-rated IPS display of the year 2019. That is what we love and know you will also love about it. This without forgetting its cool hole punch. 

Cameras 

There are five cameras on Huawei Nova 5T. These are a 48 MP wide lens, 16MP ultra-wide, dedicated 2MP macro camera, a 2MP depth sensor, and a 32 MP, f/2.0 wide selfie shooter. Here I will make a verdict. The focus here is on the main camera performance even though the selfie shooter also has confidence with its results. But the Pro cameras on the back panel are just a thing to not only talk about but also experience. The four, rear-mounted AI cameras capture stunning high-definition, ultra-wide-angle, macro, and bokeh photographs. They also create next-level videos. This even in 4K video quality. By the way, the dedicated macro cameras are the one besides the camera module with three lenses in it. 

Huawei Nova 5T Platform 

The lightning-fast Kirin 980 chip is the leading commercial 7nm SoC chip. And if you have guessed right if you guessed that it is the chipset that powers Nova 5T. It offers increased performance, greater efficiencies, outstanding AI capability. These make Huawei Nova 5T responsive hence fun to use. It is also powered by Android 9.0 (Pie) which is upgradable to Android 10.0.

This is Nova 5T 128GB 6GB RAM but let me also at this point mention that a 128GB 8GB RAM version is also available. Yes, you read that right. This phone comes with either 6/8 GB RAM. What may be considered as a downside here is that there is no provision for expanding internal storage externally. That is, using an SD card for example. 

Battery 

A decent non-removable Li-Po battery of 3750 mAh capacity is sealed within Nova 5T. It is the type that will comfortably see you through a whole day of usage. Now that is fast. This, Huawei Nova 5T is a high-end smartphone on a budget.
