Design and Build
Imagine our excitement when we learned that Vivo Y19 supports reverse charging 5W. Straight away we concluded that it has a glass build. But no. Y19 is made out of shimmering plastic which to some degree mimics a glass build because of its illuminating view and light ripples. Its 3D body has subtle curvatures that give it a slim outline for enhanced elegance and comfort while holding in the hands. Dimension-wise it is 162.2 x 76.5 x 8.9 mm whereas its weight is about 193 g. I grant you this is a good looking phone. If looks matter to you dear reader then rest assured you will always appreciate the design language Vivo Y19 speaks.
On the back panel is where the camera module and fingerprint scanner are located. I have to say the golden highlight on the camera module is such fine detail. The beauty is indeed in the detail it goes to show for it. Again that rear-mounted fingerprint scanner is quick and accurate to unlock your phone. At the bottom right of the back panel is Vivo branding as one would expect. Facing you is a notch which we shall talk about next.
One thing makes the display of this phone a thousand times worth talking about. That is its 1080 x 2340 pixels resolution. Vivo is fast stepping up in this department boosting the resolution of its displays from previous models’. This is a step in the right direction. The panel itself is an IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen which is fine. And a 6.53 inches panel for that matter eating up 104.7 cm2 of the earth’s surface area. About that notch, Vivo is calling it Halo Full View™ Display. Well, it is just a dew drop notch with a fancy name. Appreciate that because of it you are getting yourself a phone with a 90.3% screen-to-body ratio.
Vivo Y19 Cameras
eI love that Vivo is a realistic smartphone company. Unlike other companies, it has realistically included three camera lenses as primary shooters. This is realistic even for its price, unlike some phones which cost less yet have four primary lenses that have no real value. Look! The Y19 AI Triple Camera system incorporates a 16MP main camera, an 8MP Super wide-angle Camera, and a 2MP Super Macro Camera. The result, fantastic images wherever your travel or adventure takes you. But video recording with it is [email protected] even as on its also impressive and fun 16 MP selfie camera. We find that the camera performance of Vivo Y19 is also limitless.
Funtouch 9.2 being the focus here, I will say a few words about it. But first, it wouldn’t even be here was it not for the Mediatek MT6768 Helio P65 (12nm) chipset Vivo Y19 packs under its hood. Present also is an Octa-core (2×2.0 GHz Cortex-A75 & 6×1.7 GHz Cortex-A55) CPU and a Mali-G52 MC2. So this Funtouch OS 9.2 customized on Android 9 is a significant update over its predecessor, with a refreshed GUI for a hi-tech, hi-speed feel on Y19. Speaking of which the internal storage is here is an expandable 128GB with a generous 4GB of random memory – RAM. But as a whole, we find some excusable limitations with the platform performance of Vivo Y19. It is no wonder things such as Ultra Game Mode had to be featured here.
A 5000 mAh non-removable Li-Po battery has been sealed within Vivo Y19. It is this battery that makes this phone most gift you a Limitless experience for it is supported by smart energy management technologies which keep Vivo Y19 powered for even longer. The other cool feature of this phone is that it can be used as a power bank to charge other phones (OTG cable required). Do you see that? Vivo Y19 will last so long it even has the extra power to share. How can we not recommend such a phone? Buy it with us in the color Magnetic Black or Spring White. More here.
