Unboxing

One very distinguishing feature you will notice once you see the new Tecno Spark 8T is the short box, which really looks good and premium. Its content also fuels and looks premium. Sliding the box open reveals the phone itself wrapped in a plastic cover. Also inside the box is a soft TPU case that has a frosted kind of texture on the sides and a glossy texture everywhere else Further inside the box is a 13 months warranty from TECNO Mobile on this device. There is a 10-watt charger down here, which is acceptable considering the price of this device. There is a Micro USB cable for charging and file transfer. Then a pair of air phones and a SIM ejector tool.

Design and build

Unwrapping it reveals its large 6.52 inches display with the center waterdrop notch. And there is already a screen protector applied here. The frame and back of Tecno Spark 8T are made of very glossy material. The phone is available in the colors Turquoise Cyan, Atlantic Blue, and Iris Purple. TECNO didn’t just make a phone, this one is a mirror. The result of which is a fingerprint magnet so be sure to get a case, just in case. By the way, this design is perfectly identical to that of the Tecno Spark 8 smartphone.

The good news is that there is one included in the box. The left edge of this phone holds the SIM card tray, while the right edge has the volume buttons and the power button. The bottom side features the microphone and a micro USB port. There’s also a 3.5-millimeter headphone jack but the speakers are missing. That gigantic square mount on the back panel is where the camera and LED flash are. This just gives this phone a fresh design.

Better display

In front of the Tecno Spark, 8T device is its 6.6-inch 1080P display which is another welcome improvement from its predecessor. The teardrop tower houses an 8MP selfie camera. Speaking of the display, the 6.6, inches Full HD Plus display with a quick response promises a fluid experience. It displays 1080 x 2408 pixels resolution with a pixel density of 400. The brightness level is measured at 395 nits. You will really like how bright and sharp it is with good contrast.

Watching YouTube videos is fine and the screen is okay for the price. At this price point, you don’t expect to have the greatest. But generally, this display is okay. Both this display and that of the Tecno Spark 8P are IPS LCDs panels. I bring this up because save for the slight screen-to-body ratio difference, these two phones have the same display in every other respect.

Platform and performance

One of the best features of this Tecno Spark 8T smartphone is that it has a large storage capacity, at 64GB, and an equally generous RAM at 4GB. I mean with 4GB RAM you are in for a smooth experience, and even better multitasking. It is however still eMMC 5.1. Another advantage would be platform wise where this one comes running Android 11, with that relatively well optimized HIOS 7.6.

Onboard is a MediaTek MT6765G Helio G35 (12 nm) chipset and an Octa-core (4×2.3 GHz Cortex-A53 & 4×1.8 GHz Cortex-A53) CPU. The MediaTek Helio G35 is a fast octa-core Arm Cortex-A53 CPU with peak speeds of 2.3GHz. It’s GPU, an IMG PowerVR GE8320. Although Oppo’s primary focus of this phone is its 3D Sleek Design, we think the company has done an alright job tweaking this phone’s performance which customers will highly appreciate by the way.

Battery

One of the highlights of this device, Tecno Spark 8T, has to be the long-lasting Li-Po 5000 mAh, non-removable battery that you are going to get. It is very reliable and decent. This one can comfortably last for more than a day. If you’re an average user, to be Frank batteries on an issue on here. The only issue is filling it up when you finally get to drain it. Since it doesn’t come with a fast charger out of the box charging, expect a full charge in 2-3 hours.
