• Kunlun Glass protection and IP68/IP69-rated dust and water resistance provide additional peace of mind against everyday exposure to dust, splashes and accidental water contact.

Cons

• The unusually wide display may feel less comfortable for users accustomed to conventional smartphones, particularly when reaching across the screen or operating the device with one hand.
• The 256GB internal storage option may feel restrictive for users who capture large amounts of high-resolution video, download extensive media libraries or install numerous demanding applications, especially since the device does not support expandable storage.
• The absence of Google Mobile Services and the Google Play Store may inconvenience users who depend on Gmail, YouTube, Google Maps and other Google applications, as alternative access methods may not provide the same functionality.
• Some Android applications, particularly banking, payment and security apps that depend on Google services, may not function as expected, making it important for Kenyan buyers to verify compatibility with essential apps before purchasing.
• As a China-market device, the Huawei Pura X View 5G may have limited local software support, warranty coverage and specialised repair services in Kenya, potentially complicating long-term ownership.
• The premium price tag places it within flagship territory, making its software limitations and regional support considerations particularly important for buyers comparing it with internationally supported alternatives.

Verdict

The Huawei Pura X View 5G is an exciting choice for users seeking a distinctive smartphone with an immersive wide-format display, powerful performance and versatile photography capabilities. Its 7,000mAh battery, 200MP camera and premium design make it appealing for productivity, entertainment and content creation. However, the absence of native Google services, potential app compatibility limitations and uncertain local after-sales support require careful consideration. Its premium positioning makes it best suited to buyers who appreciate Huawei’s ecosystem and are comfortable with its software differences.

Huawei Pura X View 5G FAQs

1. Does the Huawei Pura X View 5G support Google Play Store and Google apps?

The Huawei Pura X View 5G runs HarmonyOS 7 and does not come with Google Mobile Services or the Google Play Store pre-installed. This means Google apps such as Gmail, YouTube, Google Maps and Google Drive are not natively integrated into the device. Although alternative access methods may be available for some services, compatibility and functionality can vary. Buyers who rely heavily on Google’s ecosystem should consider this limitation before purchasing the Huawei Pura X View 5G.

2. Can I install WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram and other Android apps on the Huawei Pura X View 5G?

The Huawei Pura X View 5G supports Huawei’s HarmonyOS application ecosystem, including AppGallery. However, app availability and compatibility depend on the application and its software requirements. Some Android applications may not install or function correctly, particularly those that depend on Google Mobile Services. Verify, as a Kenyan user, the compatibility with essential applications, including WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram, banking apps and mobile money services, before purchasing the device

3. What operating system does the Huawei Pura X View 5G use, and will it receive software updates?

The Huawei Pura X View 5G runs HarmonyOS 7, Huawei’s proprietary operating system designed to deliver a connected and responsive smartphone experience. Since the Pura X View 5G is a China-market device, buyers in Kenya should confirm the applicable update policy and software support arrangements before purchasing.

4. Is the Huawei Pura X View 5G compatible with Kenyan networks?

The Huawei Pura X View 5G is a China-market smartphone, and network compatibility in Kenya depends on the specific model’s supported LTE and 5G frequency bands. Buyers using Safaricom, Airtel or other Kenyan networks should confirm band compatibility with the retailer before purchasing. Network compatibility alone does not guarantee that every carrier-specific feature, such as VoLTE or 5G access, will be supported.

5. Where can I buy the Huawei Pura X View 5G in Kenya, and how much does it cost?
