Redmi Note 8T Design
You have probably also heard about Redmi Note 8. the two are basically the same phones, same model same everything but different names in different market. This one, Xiaomi Redmi Note 8T is the global version and that is why it is available in Kenya. I mention this because they both have the same design considering the reasons stated above. Xiaomi Redmi Note 8T has a glass build with plastic frame. It is a phone on a budget with a premium design and a solid build. This has become one of Xiaomi’s key selling points. At this price point you will rarely find a phone (unless it is Redmi by Xiaomi) build as well this one has been. And what can we say in view of these things?
The phone has these dimensions 161.1 x 75.4 and is 8.6 mm thick for agreeable reasons (see battery). The glass on the front and back is Gorilla Glass 5. That which is on the front also serves as a protection layer or coating if you like. This is good. It however is surprising how Redmi Note 8T weighs 200 g yet its build consists even of plastic – this being a move to cut down on its cost. I think its battery has something to do with it. Nonetheless this is a well build smartphone I am surely many a seers who will agree.
The Cameras
Ask yourself what you would do with five cameras on one smartphone. Come now think of it. These are the cameras present on Xiaomi Redmi Note 8T. On the back panel are five lenses a 48 MP, f/1.8, 26mm (wide), 1/2.0″, 0.8µm, PDAF, and 8 MP, f/2.2, 13mm (ultra wide), 1/4.0″, 1.12µm, a 2 MP, f/2.4, 1/5″, 1.75µm (dedicated macro camera) and a 2 MP, f/2.4, 1/5″, 1.75µm, depth sensor.
Need we explain what each lens does dear reader? A wide lens, an ultra wide lens, a depth senor means portrait mode is present here and lastly a dedicated macro camera for this close up 2cm shots. What more could you ask for? Maybe a final lens which is 13 MP, f/2.0 front facing camera – better known as the selfie shooter. The cameras present on this phone take impressive shots that you can bank your trust on. It’ll pay with interest.
Display
Alright Redmi Note 8T concedes it does not have an AMOLED panel and all but, its IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen does surprisingly well my reader. I promise you. But take not my word but make judgment for yourself aye? When ever did any display not meet expectation with a 1080 x 2340 pixels resolution and 409 ppi density? Also, when ever did interacting with a 6.3 inches not give so much satisfaction and freedom with the view estate? And such are the features of the display of Xiaomi Redmi Note 8T. Take no thought at it this is one of the best displays on a phone a this price point.
Redmi Note 8T performance
There are three internal storage and memory options to choose from with Redmi Note 8T. These are 32GB 3GB RAM, 64GB 4GB RAM, 128GB 4GB RAM. My advice is that you max out here. That 128 + 4GB RAM is the best version of this phone you can ever find. And why now? But if you are but a medium user then no doubt the other options will hold up pretty fine. Using a micro SD card you can expand these internal storage up to 256 GB. Luckily there is a dedicated slot for this allowance.
Having been released in 2019 November we can pardon this phone for not running Android 10 straight out of its box. Surely that would be too much to ask. And not that Android 9.0 (Pie) with MIUI 10 is so much a deal breaker because there will be OTA updates. A little patience, that’s all you need here. Under its hood is a power efficient Qualcomm SDM665 Snapdragon 665 (11 nm) chipset, an Octa-core (4×2.0 GHz Kryo 260 Gold & 4×1.8 GHz Kryo 260 Silver) CPU and an Adreno 610 GPU. It is with these features we categorise Redmi Note 8T as a budget smartphone dear reader. And it is a good one for that matter.
Battery
The last best feature present with this phone is its long lasting battery. Yes I did ask you to find out why this phone is 8.6 mm thick. That is because within it is massive 4000 mAh battery n on-removable Li-Po battery. Three words – it lasts long.
