Huawei MatePad Pro
Huawei MatePad Pro in Kenya courtesy of Phone Place Kenya. On blogs and other sites you will read about how this is Huawei’s counter to Apple’s iPad Pro and Samsung’s Galaxy Tab S6. This is a fact we cannot deny ourselves but since no one will take it upon themselves to exclusively and individually talk about this Huawei MatePad Pro, we will. Even then you can still read and buy Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 and Apple iPad Pro on our website. We do have them both as well as many other tablets and smartphones. Without further a due, this is our advisory review of Huawei MatePad Pro.
Huawei MatePad Pro Design
While pondering on the design of Huawei MatePad Pro my mind ended up thinking about its functionality rather than its form factor. Its range of operations rather than its looks and choice of material. This is because though Huawei MatePad Pro shares functions with regular smartphones like Huawei Mate 30 for example, it isn’t meant to be a phone if you get how I mean. This is a tablet designed and build for specific reasons and certain persons in mind. For example, a regular smartphone would not measure 246 x 159 x 7.2 mm as Huawei MatePad Pro does. Very few smartphones come with pens for interacting with the display for another example. But Huawei MatePad Pro does have a pen called the M-Pen.
Now the MatePad Pro has be crowned the first tablet to have a hole punch or a cut out on the display which houses the selfie camera. This, at least for me, is the first thing that makes Huawei MatePad Pro stand out. No other smartphone has had this design before this one. And I think it has been well implemented because bringing it here has seen Huawei MatePad Pro have a 90% screen-to-body ratio. And the screen here is a 10.8 inches, 338.2 cm2 panel. This is great. Also about that M-Pen mentioned above; it is recharged by attaching to the top edge of MatePad Pro. A pen that is charged means a pen that comes with functions such as gestures and the likes.
MatePad Pro Performance
I like to think this tablet is as good a performer as Huawei’s flagship Mate 30 and Mate 30 Pro. I say so because of its HiSilicon Kirin 990 (7 nm+) chipset which is the same chipset on the phones mentioned above. So yes, Huawei MatePad Pro is a flagship smartphone mate. For all’s information this tablet device is 5G powered thanks to this powerful and efficient chipset by Huawei which has built in 5G network modem. This is the industry’s first and only all-in-one flagship 5G chipset I cannot say this more.
Here is a tablet that runs Android 10.0 with EMUI 10. Let us focus on the company’s attempts to make EMUI better and better even as it already us now. That wrangle with the US still lives dear reader but what you are getting here is a beast of a performing tablet device. Its Mali-G76 MP16 GPU will ensure great graphics processing while all other operations shall be seamless and smooth because of that Octa-core (2×2.86 GHz Cortex-A76 & 2×2.09 GHz Cortex-A76 & 4×1.86 GHz Cortex-A55) CPU.
Unlike regular smartphones Huawei MatePad Pro comes with a single camera on the back and another on the front. It would be weird for a tablet to have more than these nay? But I can see such days coming. Howbeit, the main camera here is a 13 MP, f/1.8, PDAF shooter. Hey, video recording with it is 4K that is 2160p@30fps. Then there is that decent 8 MP, f/2.0 front facing camera. I find it strange calling it the selfie camera here since that is not a very professional way to put it, yet the MatePad Pro is a professional tablet device. That being said these cameras, though good even for regular photography, are best suited for document shooting, video conferencing and the likes.
Isn’t the display of any tablet the most important part of it dear reader? Judge this yourself you will see what I say is true. If its big display isn’t going to be crisp then what is the point of making it big in the first place? But such are not accusations I would dare lay on MatePad Pro because it has the best display any of its predecessors has had. That is a 2K panel you will be viewing every other time. The resolution thereby is 2560 x 1600 pixels on a 10.8 inches, 338.2 cm2 panel. See that pixel count you can already see how sharp this display panel is. Then when you remember that 90% screen-to-body ratio you know for sure you are getting a splendid display panel. Inasmuch as it has a rather low 280 ppi density, that 540 nits brightness comes in quick to vindicate the same.
