Design and build
Despite its huge battery, Redmi Note 10S is slim and narrow. The materials are mostly plastic yet the phone itself is IP53 rated for dust and splash protection. This means it can survive water splashes and spills here and there. The frame is metallic while the rear panel has a glass-like finish. This one is prone to fingerprints and smudges but you can take advantage of the case included in the package. Redmi Note 10 comes in Deep Sea Blue (Ocean Blue), Shadow Black (Onyx Gray), and (Frost White) Pebble White colors.
There is also a protruding camera module housing quad cameras that are identical to the Redmi Note 10S. On the right are the volume keys and power button which doubles as the fingerprint scanner. Redmi Note 10S is a Dual SIM (Nano-SIM, dual stand-by) smartphone just so you know. At the top, there’s a loudspeaker, a signature IR blaster, and a secondary microphone. While underneath we’ll find here, the 3.5-millimeter audio Jack main microphone, USB-C port, and a loudspeaker.
The Redmi Note 10S features a 6.43 inch full HD plus AMOLED dot display screen with thin bezels. Looking at it side by side with a Redmi Note 10 its punch hole is ever so slightly bigger. Above that, you can find an earpiece. As for protection, t’s covered with Corning Gorilla Glass 3. Keep in mind though that it doesn’t come with a pre-installed screen protector. You’ll have to purchase that separately for additional protection. The display settings allow you to choose between auto mode, saturated and standard. This display’s quality is pretty good. It has a great contrast of vibrant colors, deep blacks, and is bright enough for outdoor use. Simply put, interacting with it is a pleasurable experience.
Now onto the Xiaomi Redmi Note 10S cameras. There’s a 64 MP, f/1.8, 26mm (wide), 1/1.97″, 0.7µm, PDAF, an 8 MP, f/2.2, 118˚ (ultrawide), 1/4.0″, 1.12µm, 2 MP, f/2.4, (macro) and a 2 MP, f/2.4, (depth) camera. Photos from the main camera come out at 16 megapixels by default. And these are outstanding for the class and price. There’s plenty of detail with well-presented foliage and balanced sharpness. The dynamic range is wide even without the help of HDR processing.
Portrait shots come out good with accurate and dependable subject separation. The subjects are incredibly detailed too. 8-megapixel photos from the ultra-wide are decent. The two-megapixel macro camera has fixed focus and as photos are okay. You get enough detail for this resolution as well as good contrast and accurate colors. As for its selfie camera, it is an alright 13 MP, f/2.5, (wide), 1/3.06″, 1.12µm shooter.
Battery and connectivity
Redmi Note 10S comes with the usual connectivity features such as dual SIM wifi 5, Bluetooth, 5.1, a USB type C port, an IRA blaster, fingerprint scanners, and of course the lovely 3.5-millimeter audio Jack. Powering the Redmi Note 10 is a large 5,000 mAh capacity battery, which is great for an affordable daily driver. If you’re a light user, then the Redmi Note 10S’s battery life should be more than enough for your daily needs.
