Design and build

First up, there’s not really much to report on the design front of Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 5G. It has that signature Redmi 10 design and comes in the colors Chrome Silver, Graphite Gray, Nighttime Blue, and Aurora Green. The phone comes with a pre-installed screen protector on top of an actual Gorilla Glass 3 display that’s underneath.

That matte finish around the back also means no hideous finger smears. when you handling the phone. Give it an occasional polish on your pants and it’ll keep on looking gorgeous. From the edge, the fingerprint sensor works absolutely fine and fast. Face recognition is also good, although not the more secure because the phone will unlock even when you’re wearing a mask.

Cameras

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 5G still sports a 48-megapixel primary shooter on the backend, just like the standard Redmi Note 10. Although budget phone fans will recall that the Redmi Note 10 Pro upgraded that to an excellent 108MP shooter. Unlike the rest of the NOTE 10 family, unfortunately, don’t get an ultra-wide-angle shooter here on the backend. All you got, there is a 2 MP, f/2.4, (macro) and 2 MP, f/2.4, (depth). As for the footage, the video tops off at Full HD but there is no 4K at all. So don’t expect sharply detailed footage when you view it back on a bigger screen. And finally upfront is its 8 MP, f/2.0, (wide) selfie shooter.

Display

Now one of the downsides of Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 5G should you decide to grab it rather than the Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 Pro is the fact you get an IPS screen rather than an AMOLED display. Well, it still seems reasonably bright in everything, but you don’t get those same punchy colors. You don’t get the same sharp contrast. And because it’s not an OLED, you don’t get an always-on-display. Still, this 6.5-inch panel is fine. The FHD Plus resolution keeps things pretty sharp. That central selfie has been maintained on this phone still. And yeah, this is a 90 Hertz display. But because of the clunky launcher, you don’t really get to take advantage of that silky smooth refresh rate.

Performance

You will have no complaints there to be fair with the performance of this phone. There’s a MediaTek MT6833 Dimensity 700 5G (7 nm) chipset that coppe even on the base model with its 4GB RAM. And of course, this delivers 5G support over both of the dual SIM slots as well. And that’s the main advantage here over that Redmi Note 10 Pro. Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 5G packs a Li-Po 5000 mAh battery which again means all-day usage with much ease and breeze with at least 25 to 30% battery life remaining. And then it has Fast charging 18W which by 2021 standards is just fine.

Platform

Turn the Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 5G on and you’ll be swiping and poking your way through MIUI 12. It is Xiaomi’s own launcher all comfy on top of Android 11. MIUI gets more and more enjoyable with every single update. It’s got more of a stock Android vibe nowadays. Some YouTube rumors have it that MIUI is riddled with ads and generally buggy. But version 12 has really done away with most of those if not all.

The few ads that you may see can be fully disabled. There’s plenty of space on Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 5G for all of your apps, and media. You got a choice of 64 or 128 GB of internal storage, and that is expandable via a microSD.
