Design and Build
One thing about Xiaomi is the company invests quite a lot in the designs of all their smartphone. Be they high-end, mid range of entry level. This is clearly seen with Poco X2’s glass front and back. And it is Corning Gorilla Glass 5 with and aluminum frame around its edges. The phone itself has these dimensions 165.3 x 76.6 x 8.8 mm and weighs about 208 g. Poco X2 stands out because of its In-Display notch which houses a dual selfie camera setup at the tip right corner. The camera module at the back panel also has fine circular contrivance around it.
Xiaomi Poco X2 comes with an IPS LCD 6.67 inches display panel with a respectable 1080 x 2400 pixels resolution. Yes its 20:9 ration brings about a tall-body Design, it supports HDR 10, it has in-Screen cameras and so forth. But the real catch here is the inclusion of an extreme 120Hz refresh rate which really produces an addictive experience. Refresh rate is described as the frequency with which the image on an electronic display screen is refreshed. At this price point, and considering the timing, this surely is a big deal. Or should we say, a fresh cut? Oh well! Go up to 500 nits brightness here.
Vert rarely do you see a a phone come with 2 selfie cameras. Yet Poco X2 does. These two are the 20MP+2MP dual in-screen lenses that I have mentioned about twice already in this article. The 2MP one is a depth sensor for that blurring of the background effect. No more third party apps needed to achieve this. Selfie images here are quite impressive. Just as much as images shot by this phone’s high resolution 64 MP main camera. An 8 MP ultra wide camera and 2MP (each) macro and depth lenses you will also interact with from the camera module on the back.
Very quickly now Xiaomi Poco X2 runs Android 10.0 with the latest MIUI 11. That G on Qualcomm SDM730 Snapdragon 730G (8 nm) chipset it comes with indicates that it is well optimized for gaming. And thanks to Adreno 618 graphics will be well managed and staged. There are three versions of this phone with respect to UFS 2.1 internal storage and memory. But all three’s internal storage can be expanded using a microSDXC (uses shared SIM slot). The popular Poco X2 in Kenya is the 128GB 6GB RAM version.
Inside it is a non-removable Li-Po 4500 mAh battery. I will say this, it supports fast battery charging 27W that charges it to 100% from 0 in just in 68 min. This battery will last up to a whole day of mixed usage and still have reasonable amount of charge by the end of the day.
