Vivo Y12
It is always fun when there is a pleasant twist of some sort in life. Emphasis on that word, pleasant. You are probably thinking, what a strange way to be begin a review. But I sit here writing about a smartphone brand I have never reviewed before. I am excited about the experience. Meet Vivo. Yes! And now meet Vivo Y12.
The pleasure is all mine. Let it go down to review books that the first Vivo smartphone I ever reviewed was Vivo Y12, a budget smartphone – how humble. Below are my thoughts on the same. Note: After spending some time with it, I now present to you my findings. You can use these as a guide for when deciding whether or not you should buy Vivo Y12.
A budget smartphone
Vivo Y12 is an this is an okay choice for basic usage good at low price, this is what we mean by budget while talking about Vivo Y12 in Kenya. Yes it has everything your regular smartphone has from cameras to speakers to network tech you name it. But unlike many other smartphones it comes affordable, or cheap if you wish – though cheap is relative.
For such cases what phone companies do is make sure certain features of a budget phone stand out more than others. And without fear of contradiction I can confidently report that for Vivo Y12, it is first the battery then platform performance and lastly the looks. The purpose of a review is to help you make informed decision not entice you with false information. This is the budget option for you if any of the above listed features warm your heart. I could as well wrap up this review here.
Platform and storage
Okay. So Vivo has an Ultra Gaming mode for ultimate gaming fun. And I think with this the company clearly made this phone with a particular group of people in mind, namely, gamers. That is correct. And although the heaviest of games will be decently managed here, I would warn you not to ask too much of it.
Even then it is great to have a budget smartphone dedicated to people who love games, I think this is great. With 3GB of RAM it is clear you will get mid range performance here with ease. Most budget smartphones have 2GB of RAM, or less. So that is a plus for Vivo Y12 of you ask me. It also comes with 64GB of expandable internal storage, and this up to 256GB. Now if you need even better performance then you can go for three other models in 32GB + 4GB RAM, 64GB + 3GB RAM or 64GB + 4GB RAM. So a budget smartphone with 4GB RAM, neat.
Vivo Y12 is an Android powered smartphone with Android 9.0 (Pie) and Funtouch 9 OS, Vivo’s skin and theme. Some will like it (the skin) while others might not. It is a bit too poppy for my liking. But
this is a matter of personal preference, on this do not depend on my taste. What you must take away from this chit chat is that it is powered by Android and it is 9.0 (Pie). And this is nice considering obvious factors, price topping the list.
Looks
Vivo Y12 is the latest smartphone you will see and straight away fall for. I speak truthfully. Also, is that a glass build or plastic you might wonder? It is plastic. The aqua blue Vivo Y12 expresses the phones beauty even more attractively as you will see, although it is also available in Burgundy Red. On it glossy back panel is where the rear mounted fingerprint scanner is located.
And there also you wills see the triple camera lens setup. About the fingerprint scanner, it is unbelievably fast and accurate. And so is face unlock which is made possible by its rather okay performing front facing camera. The camera performance is average I must tell you in advance. Back to the matter, on the front you shall see its dew drop camera notch and a call speaker just above it. I must admit, its 6.35 inch display is a joy to spend time with, even though its resolution is relatively low at just 720 x 1544 pixels.
Vivo Y12 has these dimension 159.4 x 76.8 x 8.9 mm and it weighs about 190 grams. Another thing, although the chin (bottom bezel) is noticeable, it still has a 81.4% screen-to-body ratio and the catch lies with the slim side bezels that stretch out to fit in more content. I think the looks here get a score 8 out of 10. We give credit where credit is worth.
Battery
When ever did a non-removable Li-Po 5000 mAh battery let anyone down? I can hardly remember. And that is the battery capacity packed here within. Vivo “Y12 features an industry-leading 5,000mAh battery, supported by intelligent power-saving technologies to further extend battery life.” That should say it all.
