Design and build

I am almost tempted to copy and paste my description of the Xperia 10 Plus here because the two smartphones have the same design and build going on. With a dual camera setup on the back, a slim chin on the front and a forehead housing a selfie camera, sensor and call speaker on the front. There is SONY and Xperia branding on the back of this metal build smartphone that has been designed to fit perfectly in the hand because of its tall nature and good grip. The front is made of Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection that’ll ensure your display’s durability.

On the side there is a power button (above it is where its fingerprint scanner is mounted) and volume rocker as well. A feature called Side Sense has been integrated to ensure you can easily access your recent/frequent apps or enter single handed mode by pressure tapping twice on the side of Xperia 10. The design language of this smartphone is eloquent, a beautiful smartphone to look at the Xperia 10.

Display

The tall nature of Xperia 10 is as a result of its 21:9 display ratio that sees it stretch towards along the y-axis. About this display I can say it is quite impressive mostly when paying attention to the reduced scrolling and gaming or multimedia watching experience.

It is a 6.0-IPS LCD capacitive panel of 1080 x 2520 pixels (~457 ppi density) resolution. Given the tall nature it has, multitasking makes more sense now. You can use two apps at the same time with multitasking and the function is great here since the view estate for each app you shall appreciate.

Camera

Turn to the back of Xperia 10 smartphone and meet its dual camera setup. The two are a 13 MP, f/2.0 (wide) lens and a 5 MP, f/2.4 (wide) depth sensor. It is the 13MP lens that actually takes pictures whereas the other gives supportive functions of depth sensing and will be responsible for features like blurring the background as it stays on the object in focus. As a result, photos turn out as nice looking. Should you want to shoot a video you can in 4K quality or lower quality depending on your needs.

On the front is its 8 MP, f/2.0 selfie camera. An impressive piece of hardware at its assignment I have to say. And video recording with it is 1080p max.

Performance and memory

Platform

This one is powered by Android 9.0 (Pie), a Qualcomm SDM630 Snapdragon 630 (14 nm) chipset, an Octa-core 2.2 GHz Cortex-A53 CPU and an Adreno 508 GPU. What I love about it is that it has a close to stock Android experience. This will shorten waiting period for software updates and security patches and also it shall deliver a great user experience.

Memory

You can get your hands on either the 64 GB wit 3 GB RAM or 4 GB RAM Sony Xperia 10. You can also expand the internal storage using a microSD, up to 512 GB. The only unfortunate news is that it uses SIM 2 slot.

Battery

Okay on paper the non-removable Li-Ion 2870 mAh battery it has is a small capacity. And it is even real time. Heavy users will have to charge frequently say twice every three days with its fast battery charging 18W (Quick Charge 3.0).

Pros Cons
  • Great design and a solid build
  • Impressive camera
  • Great user experience
  • 21:9 tall display
  • Battery life not the best
