Samsung galaxy buds pro comes in a small and neat box with mentioning some of the key features. When you unbox it you’re greeted by the buds in their case. It’s super small, but about the same size as the galaxy buds live case, we saw last year. Also in the box, you’ll get a USBC to A cable as well as different sized ear tips. Inside the carrying case though, you’ll of course get the buds pro.
Similar to what we’ve seen Apple do with the AirPods Pro, Samsung Galaxy Buds bro has got their own version of spatial audio. It’s called 360 audio with Dolby vision, head tracking. So as you move your head around, you should hear your audio shift. If it’s anything like spatial audio, it’ll be pretty cool. Another cool feature here is an auto switch which allows you to switch between different Galaxy devices. That is right! You can switch between them with the same earbuds without having to repair them every time. You will be very happy to see that come to these buds.
Let’s talk about the sound quality. These actually sound pretty good. Just make sure you have the right ear tips to get the best sound quality out of them. Just like with any earbuds, once you have the right fit and you have the proper seal, the sound quality will sound a lot better than if you have the wrong one. The bass is present. It does not sound weak but pretty full.
We’ve seen the galaxy buds, galaxy buds live with that bean design which Samsung has changed up the form factor. They’ve got a more “normal” look to them. So now these are in-earbuds. They’ve got the ear tips and they do a pretty decent job staying in place. If you run into a few issues with the fit but those little extra earbuds that they send in the box, just switch one of the sizes fit just fine.
For those who want to use these for working out, they are IPX7 rated so they can deal with sweat. They can be in the water for 30 minutes for about one meter. They will do fine staying in place during a workout. These earbuds are so compact. Seriously, they’re really, really small you can almost forget about them. They take up no space. When you want to throw them into your pocket.
ANC and transparency
So these do have active noise canceling as well as that transparency mode that we see in a lot of Bluetooth earbuds these days. It is becoming pretty standard. How does the active noise canceling perform? With music does a pretty good job. Without it is still. It is a step up from Galaxy Buds Live, it’s a bit better. It’s interesting that you can control the level of active noise canceling within the app.
When it comes to the ambient sound mode, use it when you really need to hear people around you and you don’t want to take off your earbuds. I don’t really recommend the extra high. I think the most natural comes in the medium setting. Once more, I will say this ambient sound mode has definitely improved compared to previous galaxy buds. This sound mode, allows you to hear anybody I might be having a conversation with.
Because these are galaxy buds, they have the standard touch controls that you come to expect. You touched to play and pause, double-tap to go forward a track, and triple tap to go back, answer calls, all that kind of stuff. There is a setting on the app where you can block touches. And you can also long touch so that it can activate certain things. You can control your volume, prompt Bixby you can certain apps like Spotify, and so on.
The carrying case does offer extra battery life. With active noise canceling on, you’re going to get about five hours of listening time with Samsung Galaxy Buds Pro, and an extra 18 hours from the case. If you turn off active noise canceling, you’ll get about 8 hours and an extra 20 totaling 28 hours. It is amazing battery life without active noise canceling.
