Unboxing
In the box you will be treated to a Silicon case, a type A to type C charging cable, and a 65W supercharger. The device comes in a few main color variants. You can pick it in Starlight Black, Startrails Blue, Gold, or League of Legends. But the two main colors are Starlight Black and Startrails Blue.
Design
The Oppo Reno 7 Pro 5G looks absolutely phenomenal from all different angles because its backplate uses new LDI technology. An industry-first that uses 20 micro-sized fine textures, which gather up 1.2 micro rosters itched together. Here also is, we have OPPO’s signature glow, which uses micro-crystals to give it a shimmery and gradient finish. Once you pop the device on charge, you will notice an orbit breathing light that wraps around the camera module at the back. Some of its use cases are when receiving a call, a notification, or during charging.
This phone also has a new coated ceramic trim over that camera module. The device looks fantastic with its looks and shifts color depending on the light that is hitting it. There is a dual SIM 5G standby tray at the bottom of the phone. Unfortunately, no expandable storage. Present also is a USB 2.0 type C port at the bottom. And beside that is a dual stereo speaker, which is paired with the earpiece at the top to get that dual sounding just right.
Platform and performance
The software on the Oppo Reno 7 Pro 5G device is OPPO’s ColorOS 12 skinned over Android 11 and not Android 12. It still does a great job in terms of loads of different features; keeping things nice like 3D icons, making it easy for you to look around the phone. The 256GB internal storage of Reno 7 Pro 5G is paired with 12 GB RAM which can bump up to 19 GB thanks to the RAM expansion feature. Cameras
Oppo Reno 7 Pro 5G is the industry’s first smartphone to use a digital overlap high dynamic range. The 8 MP, f/2.2, 119˚ (ultrawide) sensor doesn’t take a half bad shots. You can also take a 108-megapixel sensor using upscaling within the main camera. Drop that down to 50 megapixels native or even more down to 12.5 megapixels. Getting up close and personal to a subject is great. Thanks to that 2 MP, f/2.4, (macro) sensor. You can see more of a difference when taking a video with portrait video mode capped at 1080P and 30 FPS. The highest video recording quality now that we are here is 4K@30fps.
And of course, Oppo Reno 7 Pro 5G has another world first in the selfie camera, utilizing the brand new 32-megapixel Soine IMEX 709 sensor. This is a red, green, blue, or white sensor (RGBW), as opposed to the standard red, green, green, blue sensor (RGGB). And yes, the new selfie camera also utilizes digital overlap HDR. When taking photos with the selfie, there is actually a wider angle mode. Absolutely fantastic with almost perfect edge detection. Selfie video recording is capped at 1080p@30fps.
Display
The Oppo Reno 7 Pro 5G has a 6.55 inch AMOLED display. This time around it is flat and not curved. It is still Full HD Plus with a PPI 402, HDR 10 Plus, and Amazon Prime HDR certified. And it has a max brightness of 920 nits. It also packs in a 90 Hertz refresh rate which is unfortunately not adaptive. It does also have a 180 Hertz touch sampling rate.
