OnePlus 8 Pro in Kenya

OnePlus 8 Pro (12GB+256GB) is available in Kenya for a price of 91,000 shillings. It was announced alongside OnePlus 8 on 2020, April 14. Here are some of the key features of the OnePlus 8 Pro. The phone comes with a 6.78 inc Fluid AMOLED display, A quad 48 MP main camera, Snapdragon 865 chipset, and a decent 4510 mAh battery. OnePlus 8 is available in three color options Glacial Green, Ultramarine Blue, and Onyx Black. The phone has IP68 dust/water resistance, WiFi 6, and a 120Hz refresh rate display.

Slim and Sleek Curved Design

The OnePlus 8 Pro is quite familiar with its curves down to dimensions and bezels. It has been crafted like the base model with remarkable precision. The phone itself looks stunning, weighs about 199 grams, and measures 165.3 x 74.4 x 8.5 mm in dimensions. It is available in three elegant color variants. The OnePlus 8 comes in Glacial Green, Ultramarine Blue, and Onyx Black. That evenly toned, evenly lit and clear-sighted display of it comes with a hole punch wherein the front-facing camera lies. This just makes the OnePlus 8 stand out, even out-standing previous generation OnePlus flagship smartphones. We think this phone has an award-deserving design.

48 MP Triple Camera

We would describe the triple camera of the OnePlus 8 in this way. And this is the same way we did for the regular version because except for the few (yet major additions) they have the same main camera configuration – almost. Here goes. Macro Mode 2.0 lets you focus on subjects just 4 cm away, so you can bring more details into focus. Selfie portrait (16MP wide selfie) for taking high-quality selfies wherever, whenever. Finally, intelligent multi-frame processing to add brightness, clarity, and detail to low-light scenes. It is an advanced 48 MP Triple system.

So with the OnePlus 8, Pro comes an 8 MP, f/2.4, telephoto camera lens graced with Optical Image Stabilization and 3x optical zoom. The ultra-wide lens is a whopping 48 MP camera you cannot believe it, even as we could not. Finally all depth sensing and background blurring and what other phone makers call the bokeh effect are made possible by the 5MP depth-sensing lens of the OnePlus 8 Pro. Video recording is 4K of course at 2160p@30/60fp but you can also shoot in 1080p@30/60/240fps with Auto HDR and gyro-EIS.

Snapdragon 865 chipset

This Qualcomm® Snapdragon 865 is the chipset of the year 2020. Bad as the year had started with a global health crisis, this chipset remains as good as we are about to show you. First of all this chipset delivers up to 25% faster (flagship) performance than previous generation Snapdragons. X Dual Mode 5G and UFS 3.0 storage infrastructure come with it. Tell you what, OnePlus 8 brings you the next generation of WiFi with WiFi 6 with peak speeds up to 270%* faster than before. Thanks to SD 865 you also get Smart 5G.

The price of the OnePlus 8 Pro is 84,000 shillings in Kenya for the 128GB + 8GB RAM version. 12 GB RAM + 256 GB OnePlus 8 Pro costs around 91,000 Kenya shillings. These are the two storage options you will have to choose from. That being said, let us also mention that the OnePlus 8 Pro runs Android 10.0 with OxygenOS 10.0 straight out of the box. The phone has an Octa-core (1×2.84 GHz Kryo 585 & 3×2.42 GHz Kryo 585 & 4×1.8 GHz Kryo 585) CPU and an Adreno 650 GPU. As for sound performance, the OnePlus 8 has a powerful dual stereo speaker to deliver more immersive and detailed sound. With it, you get to enjoy a cinematic, 3D listening experience with Dolby Atmos’ support.

Enhanced haptic vibration also gives you better feedback with every tap and swipe whilst you interact with your new OnePlus 8 Pro. See the performance of the Pro and the base model is basically one and the same thing. You are getting the same package under this department else why would they be the same phone? Just keep this economic information at the back of your mind for when you will be making a purchase. You might need it.

6.78 inches Fluid Display

This isn’t just a regular everyday smartphone screen you find on any smartphone. First, note that this A+ rated supports HDR10+. It brings with it a higher 1440 x 3168 pixels resolution with a sharp ~513 PPI density. Natural accuracy is what this screen aims to present. Colors here are what we love to call ‘true to life’ thanks to this calibrated display that provides sensational color accuracy. Simply put, the display of the OnePlus 8 Pro is designed to impress. Do not let it skip your notice it has a punch hole at the top left corner where the selfie camera sits. What makes its display stand out (or out-stand really) that of the regular 8 is its 1B colors compared to 16M colors. The ‘M’ and ‘B’ is million and billion. Check out our review of Oppo Find X2 Pro which also comes with 1B colors.

More

Very quickly let us bring everyone to speed with what a 120 Hz display is. Refresh rate allows you to swipe, scroll, and navigate with ease. A refresh rate is the number of times your monitor updates with new images each second. For example, a 120 Hz refresh rate means the display updates 1200 times per second. Such is what OnePlus 8 Pro brings with its 6.78 inches Fluid Display.

The company describes it as the 6.78″ Fluid Display flows seamlessly from one frame to the next – then the whole refresh rate thing follows. Important to note is that this screen is an AMOLED capacitive touchscreen that does have 16M colors. You are also getting Corning Gorilla Glass protection here although the company did not quite clearly tell which Corning Gorilla Glass version it is. But yet, this form of protection is on this display.

OnePlus 8 Pro Battery

Power up your day and night with the 4,510 mAh battery of the OnePlus 8 Pro and enjoy fast charging 30W which delivers 50% in just 22 minutes. OnePlus 8 can deliver the power need you desire for a whole day’s use. Be sure to take advantage of it. Find out more by visiting the official phone website here.

OnePlus 8 Pro or 8?

To put it simply, the question posed here is whether you should buy one or the other. What are the major differences between the OnePlus 8 Pro or OnePlus8? Size: the Pro version is 165.3 x 74.4 x 8.5 mm at 19 grams while the base version is 160.2 x 72.9 x 8 mm at 180 grams. Both have IP68 dust/water resistance. The display sizes are also different with the Pro having a comparatively larger 6.78 inches display than the base model’s 6.55 inches. But both are Fluid AMOLED screens.

With the cameras, the OnePlus 8 Pro outshines the OnePlus 8 because of its higher resolution lenses and more camera lenses as well. On the Pro is a 48+8+48+5MP main camera whilst on the base model it is 48+16+5MP. Selfie cameras are the same 16 MP shooters except with f/2.5 on the Pro and f/2.o on the regular. Finally, while the OnePlus 8 Pro has a 4510 mAh battery, the OnePlus 8 brings with it a 4300 mAh battery capacity.
